Project description:

The project consists of the extension of the passengers' terminal and the general upgrading of the airport facilities. A remote check-in area will be built for athletes and winter tourists. This building is to be connected to a new Baggage Handling System building (BHS) through an artificial tunnel, which accommodates conveyor belts. Significant improvements are also foreseen for the private flight area.

Geologic context:

Tunnels and building foundations are to be realized in glacial-alluvial deposits, formed by coarse to medium gravel and sand, with few silt and clay levels.

The water table is subjected to significant seasonal variations due to extensive irrigation of the fields close-by.

Preliminary, final and detailed design, construction supervision: co-ordination of geotechnical and utilities site investigation and survey. Geological and hydrogeological studies, geotechnical design. Construction supervision of geotechnical works.
