Project:

DAI NINH HYDROPOWER PROJECT
HEADRACE TUNNEL AND SURGE SHAFT

Owner:

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN)

Client:

C.M.C. COOPERATIVA MURATORI CEMENTISTI

Project description:

The 11258m long headrace tunnel has an internal diameter of 4.65m. The surge shaft is 125m deep. The tender design foresees conventional and mechanized tunneling.

Geologic context:

The tunnel is to be excavated through granites, dacites and sandstones interbedded with siltstone (flysch). The tunnel is situated under the groundwater table. The expected prevalent rock mass class is III. Maximum overburden in the range of 250m; problematic is expected to be the crossing of the contact zones. Design of equidimensional trapezoidal segment ring

Location:

Vietnam

Start/end date:

42 months

Cost estimate:

-

Design and consultancy services:

Geoengineering support during Tender preparation (tunnel and shaft) - segmental lining design: analysis of Tender documents, evaluation of geological risks, structural design of the segmental lining for a double shield hard rock tunnel boring machine, preparation of method statement including: estimation of conventional tunneling cycle times, drilling pattern design, works planning (base and alternative construction options). The elaboration of design analyses and method statement was in compliance with the Owner's specifications.
